Born an army brat in Stuttgart, Germany, David and his family lived in several states and many countries before settling in Detroit.
A graduate of Detroit’s Finney High School,
David’s interest in the Arts and Automobiles brought him to CCS where he graduated in 1987.

David’s first professional job was with the Dee Howard Co. in San Antonio, Texas, where he designed bespoke aircraft interiors.
In 1988 he joined the Chrysler Corporation, now Stellantis, where designed the exterior to the first-generation production
Neon, and the Back Pack, an exterior/interior concept vehicle which
became the 2004 production 300C exterior. David also contributed to the
design concepts for the Chrysler, Eagle, Dodge, Plymouth, and Jeep
brands.

In 1999 he joined General Motors entering into a management role which would lead to
positions in support of the Saturn Brand, Package Studio, Full-Size Truck,
and Hummer Interiors.

In 2009 David launched ONE7 Studios,a design consultancy which took him back to his
roots as a creative designer. Supporting mostly semi-truck projects
for the Mack/Volvo and Kenworth brands, while also connecting with
suppliers that support Jeep and Faraday Future.

Throughout his career, David served as an adjunct professor in Transportation Design. We are pleased that David joined us as an Assistant Professor in 2024
where he continues to be inspired by our students’ emerging talent. When not teaching or working on his own 2D/3D projects, David can be found creating music and spending time with family.
