SEGUE: CCS Alumni in New York

About the Event

Alumni Events

SEGUE brings together the work of CCS alumni whose creative journeys began at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and have since taken them to New York City.

Like a segue in music, the transition from one place to another can shift rhythm, introduce new possibilities, and change the direction of a creative practice. The artists featured in SEGUE have each navigated that transition in their own way, responding to the challenges and opportunities of building a life and practice in New York while carrying forward the foundation of their CCS education.

Through a cross-disciplinary collection of work, the exhibition explores stories of artistic growth, resilience, risk-taking, and evolution, with a shared sensitivity to material and making connecting the artists across disciplines.

Featured Artists:
Kevin Beasley ’07, Fine Arts
LaKela Brown ’05, Fine Arts
Nate Sweitzer ’22, Illustration
