Professional Experience
Emily Bommarito is a Detroit-based new media artist and educator whose work investigates climate change impacts on the Great Lakes cultural region through data visualization, digital fabrication, and conceptual art experiences. Since 2016, she has worked as a digital fabricator and independent designer, collaborating with clients including Kroll Tactical and the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Her creative practice merges traditional product design techniques—such as mold-making and user experience—with digital tools like code, 3D modeling, and computer-aided design, producing work that spans both hand-made and technological processes. Bommarito has taught as an adjunct professor of Digital Art at Wayne State University and the College for Creative Studies. She joined CCS as a full-time faculty member in the Foundations Department in 2025. Inspired by the intersection of urban and natural environments, her work engages audiences in immersive and interactive experiences that reflect on the socio-digital human condition and the challenges of an evolving climate.
