Community Outreach & Engagement
CCS is committed to investing in the community, and community service is an integral part of our mission. The College is active in economic and community development and in providing special educational opportunities to inner-city students and to all who are interest in art and design.
Outreach programs such as Precollege classes, school and neighborhood art programs, gallery exhibitions, and the Woodward and Toyota Lecture Series, contribute to the cultural vitality of Detroit and southeast Michigan by extending the benefits of the College to the entire metropolitan area. The College’s charter school, Henry Ford Academy: School for Creative Studies, provides a pathway for inner-city middle and high school students to higher education and careers in art and design. Design Core Detroit is playing a key role in strengthening the region’s creative economy.
