My research and practice interests are in Experimental Animation, (specifically the spectrum of intersections between physical/analog and digital image making), and Visual Music.
Professional Experience
Joshua Harrell has worked as a freelance animator on non-commercial projects, and has taught at various academic levels, including graduate level as adjunct faculty at the University of Southern California, and undergraduate level as a visiting Lecturer at Dartmouth College.
Harrell earned a Master of Fine Arts in Film, Video, and Computer Animation from the University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts, Los Angeles CA, and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with focuses in video and drawing from The University of the South, Sewanee TN.
In 2009, Harrell was invited to be a Visiting Artist in the Entertainment Arts Department at the College for Creative Studies, and accepted a full-time teaching position at the College later that same year.
