I’m interested in the body as an imperfect container for the self; individual and collective identities as imperfect descriptors for human beings; the way that people crave “connectedness” while simultaneously striving for individuation. I use figurative painting to present alternative ways of relating to thebody: less as a discrete entity, more like an avatar, portal or receiver. Research interests include contemporary art history, spiritual and religious tradition, moral philosophy and philosophy of mind and perception.
