Peter Marra specializes in Queer Studies and Film Studies. His current research explores the queer lineage and queer function of the U.S. slasher film by considering its development throughout the twentieth century parallel to the emergence and expansion of the modern gay rights movement.

Professional Experience

Peter Marra holds a Ph.D. in English with a focus in Film & Media Studies from Wayne State University. He is the author of the forthcoming book Queer Slashers. Additional work has been published in Film Criticism, Bright Lights Film Journal, and the edited collections Recovering 1940s Horror Cinema (Lexington Books, 2015) and ReFocus: The Films of William Castle (Edinburgh UP, 2018), and Final Girls, Feminism, and Popular Culture (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2020).
