Professional Experience
Nikki Barbour is currently the Director of Academic Facilities, Manager of the Metalshop + Foundry, and Adjunct Faculty in the Foundations Department at the College for Creative Studies. She has served the College for 22 years in a variety of roles that have included teaching in the Crafts, Fine Arts, and Foundation Departments. Nikki’s interests in community building paired with an entrepreneurial spirit has led to a variety of professional experiences that include non-profit gallery management at Detroit Artist’s Market, Independent design, fabrication and curatorial work, and as business owner for ten years at Atlas Cuisine LLC/ Atlas Bistro. She is currently a partner in Vi Et Animo LLC. Trained in a variety of traditional processes, Barbour’s work is not bound by media constraints, is influenced by cartography, topography, data layers, the interplay of sociopolitical issues, and how the distillation of ideas takes form. Her work has been exhibited internationally.
