The interplay and manipulation of color, material, and texture have consistently been the centerpiece of Kelly’s professional and personal endeavors. Her research delves into how these elements shape not only aesthetic experiences but also emotional connections with spaces and products. In addition to her expertise in color and materials, Kelly is deeply interested in lifestyle, design, and wellness trends, exploring how they intersect with consumer behaviors and influence future design directions. She also has a passion for handcrafted objects, appreciating the artistry and individuality they bring to modern living.
Professional Experience
Kelly Slank has over 30 years of trend forecasting, design, color and materials experience across a range of industries that include, interiors, exhibit, automotive, footwear and apparel. She has worked for industry leaders such as General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Nike. Most recently, she spent time at Harley-Davidson where she led the team responsible for the inspiration, research and development of all paint, materials, finishes and graphics for all Harley-Davidson and LiveWire motorcycles. Kelly currently operates the consultancy Slank Design and teaches at College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan.
