Lacey is currently working towards his first solo show exploring the complex, all-encompassing yet lightly understood role of geometry to the natural world and human experience. The depth of his work is interwoven with underlying themes encompassing modern ailments, mental health, while examining the human relationship to space we inhabit and in turn, shaping our identity and behavior.

Professional Experience

Lacey has held Residencies at Red Bull Arts Detroit, and Fortress Studios. Lacey was selected as an Artist representing the United States, at Imago Mundi during the 2013 Venice Biennale, in Venice, Italy. He has work in the collections of the Kresge Foundation, and within the 2015 Murals In The Market exhibition at the Detroit Historical Society.

Significant Publications, Presentations and Exhibitions

His numerous group exhibitions include A Piece In Time at SPACEWOMb in Manhattan, NYC in 2014, Triage; Brian Lacey at #Hashtag in Toronto in 2015, and Detroit Abstraction – Curated By Rick Vian at Janice Charach in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 2016. Lacey has since gone on to exhibit with Superchief at the Aqua Art Miami Art Fair during Art Basel, Miami Beach 2018. His work has been shown along side established Artists such as Charles McGee, Nancy Mitchnick, Peter Williams, Kenny Scharf, and Swoon. He has been featured in both digital and print publications including Mass Appeal, Huffington Post, Vanity Fair UK, and Vice Canada.
