Welcome to Midtown Detroit

“One of 10 most up-and-coming neighborhoods in the US”

Midtown Detroit is where the College for Creative Studies makes its home. It’s just north of Downtown Detroit and arguably the most progressive and growing part of our rapidly changing city. It’s been named one of 10 up-and-coming neighborhoods around the USA by USA TODAY. Midtown houses the award winning Detroit Medical Center and major cultural institutions including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Historical Museum, the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Michigan Science Center. Galleries, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, dog parks and Michigan’s fourth largest university all live within Midtown.

The people of Midtown Detroit are culturally and socially minded. It’s a draw for entrepreneurs, farmers, artists and people in search of sustainable living. Many of Midtown’s inhabitants use the land to create socially minded, community-oriented gardens and projects that not only benefit themselves, but the greater good. On a typical Saturday, just a mile from Midtown, you will find many of our neighbors selling their organic goods at Detroit’s Eastern Market, which draws more than 100,000 people to the city every weekend during the growing season.
