As a practice, Design is no longer about aesthetics alone but rather a critical response to help comfort, nurture, and revive the ethos of the human spirit. As technology continues to infiltrate our daily lives, Design by Desire places a necessary focus upon:

-Slowing Down
-Preserving Heritage & Connecting to History
-Appreciating the Value of Artisan Handcraft
-Understanding Natural Materials
-Embracing an unfamiliar Longing for Formality

In its second iteration, this curatorial project poses as a reflection point; it is a means of study, seeking to open dialogue and inspire thoughtful priorities in shaping our future.

Participating artists include: Kayla Anderson, Angela Bell, Aki Choklat, Maya Davis*, Julio Dominguez, Kate Donoghue, Bri Frey*, Kim Harty, Melanie McClintock*, Aaron Midcalf, Jeremy Noonan*, Dalia Reyes*, Cristin Richard*, Michael Salois, Nate Savino, Steve Shaw*, Chris Turner*, Graem Whyte*, Emilie Yonker*, and The Great Lakes Lace Group.

*Indicates artist is a CCS alum.

Curated by House of RAW, this group exhibition highlights works across disciplines and echoes the themes of the Design Visions Forecast, presented at the College for Creative Studies on September 17th at 5pm. This exhibition is a part of the Detroit Month of Design, presented by Design Core Detroit. Please RSVP for the reception below.
