Woodward Lecture Series: Loris Gréaud

Loris Gréaud is an internationally acclaimed artist whose practice constructs immersive environments that blur the boundaries between fiction and reality, collapsing physical and mental spaces through elements such as rumor, poetry, architecture, and self-negation. In this talk, Gréaud will discuss his broader body of work while focusing on CORTICAL, an ongoing cycle developed in collaboration with international partner institutions, including the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, the Petit Palais, the MAH in Geneva, and the Théâtre du Châtelet.

Artist Bio: Since the early 2000s, Loris Gréaud has developed a singular trajectory in the international contemporary art scene whereby he constructs unique environments to house disruptive elements, often with an ambiguous narrative that blurs the boundaries between fiction and reality. Rumors, poetry, viruses, architecture and demolition, academicism and self-negation are therefore regularly summoned in his work as it strives to oppose the separation between physical and mental spaces.

Gréaud has held numerous solo exhibitions, including at the Palais de Tokyo, Musée du Louvre, Centre Pompidou, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the ICA London, Kunsthalle Wien, Tel Aviv Museum of Art… and his works are part of prestigious international collections such as, le Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris; Collection François Pinault (Venise); Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), Nam June Paik Art Center (Korea) or Hirshhorn Museum (Washington).
