I am a student majoring in automotive exterior and interior design at CCS. One of my strengths as an automotive designer is that I am skilled working on physical study models, as well as digital 3D projects using Alias and Speedform. Once I find my inspiration from research, I create a 2D sketch and a 3D model with a ‘cool’ theme to demonstrate how my 2D sketch translates to 3-dimensional sculpture. I call this 3D sketching/delineation. A strong ability to translate a design from 2D to 3D is one of the most important skills for an automotive designer because we are communicating in 3-dimensional form language. I was able to strengthen these skills further through the internships I did at Byton and Volkswagen for exterior and interior design. A better understanding of 3D work has helped me to approach serious company projects with a more professional attitude and the ability to produce interesting images that are also functional.
