Professional Experience

Kathleen Garrett’s advanced degree work was on Labor Literature of the 1930s. Modern American Literature was and is also a focus as well as Detroit History and contemporary literature.

Kathleen has taught a variety of courses at CCS, such as Freshman Composition, Introduction to Literature, and Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies. Kathleen also taught in the English department at Wayne State University, and at the high school and middle school levels where she also taught German. Kathleen also facilitates several book clubs at Pages Bookshop, an independent bookstore in Detroit. She also publishes regularly for Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation.
