Professional Experience
Upon receiving his MFA indesign from Cranbrook Academy of Art, James immediately began designing in the broadcast industry at WDIV in Detroit. Since that time he has received numerous honors in print, motion graphic and scenic design. His work has appeared in many design annuals and in progressive graphic design books such as; Cranbrook Design: the New Discourse, New Tyopgraphics, New Typographics Two and The Graphic Edge among others. In 2003 he coauthored and designed a book on motion graphics titled: On Screen In Time, Transitions in Motion Graphic Design for Film, Television and New Media, published by RotoVision. He has been honored by the AIGA, the ACD, The New York Type Directors Club, ICOGRADA, the Broadcast Designers Association and The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences among others. He has taught as a visiting designer at both the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and Eastern Michigan University.
