Andy Malone’s work focuses on physical interaction. A long held fascination with mechanical movements, architecture, chance and collaboration lie at the heart of his interactive objects and games. His playable sculptures are a means for telling stories, exploring ideas, solving problems and building community.

Professional Experience

Andy Malone graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Architecture in 1996 and embarked on a successful career in the custom furniture and exhibit industry. Notable clients include Google, Twitch, Konami, Salesforce, Dolby, Bethesda Games, LG, Dodge, HP and T-Mobile.

Malone’s playable sculptures and games have been shown in over 75 exhibitions since 1995.

Andy Malone, along with Dr. Nick Sousanis, Dr. Fred Goodman and Sambuddha Saha curated Game Show Detroit (2006) at the Contemporary Art Institute of Detroit and GSNYC (2011) at Columbia University. Andy also curated the Bravo! Bravo! Art Exhibition at the Detroit Opera House in 2004 and 2005.

Malone has served on the board of directors for CAID and the UDM SOA Alumni Association. Malone currently serves as Vice President of HATCH.

Malone had two recent solo exhibitions: Play Room (2017) and Happy Accidents (2019).
