Company which was in business in Philadelphia from 1882 until 1952. This company was engaged in the lamp making business and made lighting that used whale oil, kerosene, illuminating gas, combination illuminating gas and electrical lamps, the later electrical fixtures that included pendants, sconces, standards and table lamps. Alan has a personal collection of over 135 pieces of the companies lighting as well as numerous photographs, advertising items and general Company ephemera.

Professional Experience

Alan is an autodidact with a varied background which includes work as a mechanic, welder, machinist, stained glass technician, woodworker, serial entrepreneur, patent holder, inventor, licensed residential builder, real estate developer, college and university professor, director of product development, vice president of a local manufacturing firm, who then went into business for himself in 1983.

Significant Publications, Presentations and Exhibitions

May 2017 to present. Alan is featured in a television commercial and media advertisement for Flagstar Bank which was filmed in his shop and at his home in Royal Oak, Mi.

Shown first in September of 2017, Alan was featured in a national PBS episode of The Craftsman Legacy television program.

Appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Better Homes and Gardens Kitchen and bath Magazine, The Detroit Free press, Detroit News, Etc.
