Supervisor of Environmental Services

 

STATUS: Full time
DIVISION: Facilities
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities & Environmental Services   
SUPERVISES: Environmental Cleaning Staff
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Supervise operations for Environmental service department to present a clean and safe learning environment for a World class College institution of 780,000 sq. ft. of building space.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for supervising environmental team members.
  • Oversee team performance by monitoring daily tasks and ensuring all cleaning is completed to established quality standards.
  • Assist Manager with hiring and training of new employees.
  • Deliver employee training, professional development and safety instruction to support and maintain high-quality performance standards.
  • Order Supplies and keep a detailed inventory in order to keep within the budget provided.
  • Ensure all machinery is kept in good operating condition. Repair or replace any Machinery that becomes unsafe or obsolete.
  • If necessary, assist with outside contractors on cleaning needs.
  • Prepare and review various reports, including budget control, and inventory.
  • Approved all staff time and PTO requests on our time clock system.
  • Meet with vendors and obtain quotes on various projects.
  • Responsible for scheduling team members for 24/7 coverage for various tasks, including everyday cleaning for our students and staff, outside events.
  • Assessment of any complaints and report solutions to staff and management.
  • Meet and coordinate with our events department for cleaning support for outside events in our conference center and other locations throughout campus.
  • Meet and coordinate with our housing and pre-college departments for cleaning support for a large cleaning project of cleaning of dorms several times throughout the year.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: 10 Years of cleaning experience and 5 years of Management
  • Strong problem solving and people skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong Leadership, interpersonal, public relationship and supervisory skills.
  • Experience, ability and willingness to working an academic environment.
  • Flexibility in assignments and working hours to meet the needs of the college.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving parts, and vibration. The employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. Must be able to climb ladders. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
