Integrity of Student Work Guidelines
As stated in the Retention of Student Art Work Policy, the College retains unlimited rights to reproduce images of student artwork indefinitely for historical, archival, accreditation, and promotional purposes. Credit will be given to students whose work is reproduced for such purposes.
The following guidelines should be adhered to when using student artwork for promotional purposes, including but not limited to websites, social media, and printed materials:
- Respect for Artistic Integrity: College employees should refrain from distortion, significant modification, reassembly or stylistic filters.
- Layout & Cropping: Cropping and resizing for layout purposes is acceptable provided it is done thoughtfully to maintain the integrity of the original work in the format needed.
- Attribution Standards: All work should be credited using the standard format if the following information is known: Student Name, Graduation Year, Department. There may be instances with specific formats or platforms in which this is not available or applicable.
- Social Media: When possible, the College will attempt to tag the student’s professional social media account.
Opt-Out Provision: Students may request that their work be excluded from future promotional use by contacting the CCS Marketing & Communications Office. Please note that this request cannot be applied retroactively from the date of publishing these guidelines (8/26/26) to materials already in print or circulation.
