SUMMARY:Passage of Knowledge: A History of the CCS Foundry
DESCRIPTION:Opening Friday\, January 10\, 4-7pm \nGallery Hours: Tuesday – Saturday\, 11am-5pm \nCelebrating over 65 years of sculpting and foundry work at our institution\, this exhibition traces the evolution and legacy of this art form. From the early influence of Walter Midener\, a pivotal figure in the 1960s\, to Jay Holland’s transformative leadership and mentorship\, we showcase the depth of our sculpting tradition. \nThe journey continues with the accomplishments of Holland’s students – Sergio De Giusti\, David Petrakovitz\, Robert Bielat\, Hugh Timlin and John Van Amerongen and extends to the “next generation” of artists led by Todd Erickson\, including Matthew Hanna\, Henry Roberts\, Alvaro Jurado\, David Newton\, Scott Hocking\, Marcyanna Parzych\, Gary Kulak\, Sharon Que\, Chris Zagacki\, Willie Hahn and Stephany Latham. \nThe exhibition also highlights the work of CCS faculty members who have significantly contributed to the foundry: Susanna Linburg\, Joseph Wesner\, John Burkwhat\, Paul Martus\, Graem Whyte\, Alan Brown\, John Rizzo and James Viste. \n“Passage of Knowledge” honors the rich sculpting heritage of our institution and invites you to explore the connections between generations through the art of casting. \nThis exhibition was curated by CCS Director of Exhibition Services and artist Todd Erickson. \nParticipating Artists \n\nRobert Bielat (‘73\, Fine Arts)\nAlan Brown\, (‘84\, Graphic Design)\nJohn Burkwhat\nSergio De Giusti\nTodd Erickson\nWillie Hahn\nMatthew Hanna (‘86\, Fine Arts)\nScott Hocking (‘00\, Fine Arts)\nJay Holland\, (‘51\, Fine Arts)\nAlvaro Jurado (‘88\, Fine Arts)\nGary Kulak\nStephany Latham\nSusanna Brose Linburg\nPaul Martus (‘01\, Industrial Design)\nWalter Midener (‘50\, Fine Arts)\nDavid Newton\, (‘89 Fine Arts)\nMarcyanna Parzych (‘94\, Fine Arts)\nDavid Petrakovitz (‘74\, Crafts – Sculpture)\nJohn Piet (‘73\, Fine Arts)\nSharon Que\nJohn Rizzo (‘01\, Crafts – Glass)\nHenry Roberts (‘74\, Fine Arts)\nHugh Timlin\, (‘77\, Fine Arts)\nJohn Van Amerongen\, (‘74\, Fine Arts)\nJames Viste\nJoseph Wesner\nGraem Whyte (‘96\, Fine Arts)\nChris Zagacki
