SUMMARY:Michigan National Portfolio Day
DESCRIPTION:This is a free\, public event hosted by the College for Creative Studies. \nVisit with counselors\, admissions team members\, and faculty from art and design schools for a portfolio review before applying to colleges or universities. \nWhat should I bring? \nYour portfolio should include the best work you are making now\, but it can also include work in progress\, sketchbooks\, and tear sheets. \n\nDo not spend an inordinate amount of time matting or framing your work. The work itself is what is of interest.\nBring digital versions of any fragile pieces of work that are too hard to carry.\nBring a device or laptop with a screen larger than 5”x 7” to show time-based work (video\, animation\, etc.)\, digital images\, and digitally based art. Note: You will likely not have access to a power source\, so charge up in advance or bring your own.\n\n*No admissions decisions or scholarship awards will be offered to you at a National Portfolio Day. Some colleges represented may accept the portfolio you present as the visual portion of your application. Other colleges have review structures that prohibit them from making a definitive admission decision at the time of your review. We urge you to discuss your work with as many representatives as possible. \nFree parking is available. \n[button link=”https://nationalportfolioday.heydays.io/conventions/3258″ color=”black” newwindow=”yes”] RSVP[/button] \nQuestions? Email: admissions@ccsdetroit.edu \n  \nWhat You Need to Know if You’re Attending Portfolio Day\nParking \n\nFree parking is available in the parking lot between Cass and Woodward Ave.\nOverflow parking is available in the Taubman Center parking structure at 453 W. Baltimore St. (between Cass and 2nd Ave.)\, but access may be limited.\nFor driving instructions\, visit: tinyurl.com/mr6yxj9f.\n\nThere is construction around the building\, so allow extra time and be patient with parking. \nImportant Notes \n\nNo admission decisions or scholarship awards will be made at the event.\nSome representatives may accept your portfolio as part of your application; others may not make definitive decisions during the review.\nBe patient and prioritize which schools you’d like to visit if lines are long.\nIf you’re not feeling well\, please stay home.\nReview the Code of Conduct below.\nThis is a free\, public event hosted by the College for Creative Studies.\n\nBefore or After Your Review \n\nNeed art supplies or a CCS t-shirt? Stroll through our bookstore before and after portfolio reviews (first floor).\nLooking for a cup of coffee or a bite to eat? Stop by our cafeteria on the 2nd floor (11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.)\nCheck out the Designing Detroit exhibit on the 1st floor in the Valade Family Gallery (by the elevators).\nAfter your visit\, explore the city: tour the Detroit Institute of Arts\, shop in Midtown\, or grab a bite at a nearby café or restaurant. Visit Detroit offers plenty of ideas to plan your trip.\n\n  \nNATIONAL PORTFOLIO DAY ASSOCIATION: EVENT CODE OF CONDUCT\nNational Portfolio Day Association is committed to creating a safe and enjoyable event for all participants.
